
About business of acceptance of foreign technical interns
"Program of Technical Intern Training for Foreign National " is a program to invite foreign young people of developing countries to Japanese companies and give them opportunity to learn Japanese industrial technology, skill and expertise.

BUSINESS OUTCOMES
Since 2017 more than 250 foreign skill trainees have been accepted.
Technical Intern Program helps many people in developing countries to learn technology, skill and expertise of Japan and contributes to human resource development in their home countries.
The program improves cross-cultural communication and invigorates the local communities since technical interns participate in community events. They also have positive effects on the local economy.
Most of technical interns are young people who are committed to their work. So their serious work attitude activates the company and improves company's productivity.

SYSTEM

Process of organization implementing the technical intern training

TECHNICAL INTERNSHIP PERIOD
Technical interns undergo pre-work training at least for 1 month after entry to Japan. After the pre-work training they undergo technical intern training for 5 years at longest as technical interns under employment based on Japanese Labor Standards Act.

*Interns have to undergo technical examination in the 8th month, in the 6th month of the 2nd year and in the 6th month of the 4th year and they have to pass these examinations.
*For the 4th and 5th year program, an evaluation will be implemented according to OTIT's point system. 4th and 5th year intern program can be held only in and by the company and supervising organization who passed such OTIT evaluation.
